<div>Meet Hermann! This sculpture was crafted by Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir of <a target="_BLANK" href="https://loaboratorium.com/">Lóaboratoríum</a> and FM Belfast fame out of white and yellow clay. Hermann features two handmade name cards with the artist's signature, and a mouthful of real human teeth, which were ethically sourced.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>One of Hermann's handwritten name cards includes some instructions about his care requirements. She is a comic artist, visual artist, illustrator, writer, musician, screenwriter, and playwright. Lóa graduated from the art program at Fjölbrautaskólinn in Breiðholt in 1999 and earned a BFA in visual arts from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2003. She studied illustration and comics at Parsons, New York, from 2007 to 2008. In 2016, she completed an MA in creative writing at the University of Iceland. <p>This one-of-a-kind ceramic vase is the work of Danish artist&nbsp;<a target="_BLANK" href="https://munckceramics.com/">Birgitte Munck</a>.</p><p><span>The piece features a gently curved silhouette with a flared rim, finished in a muted lavender glaze. Valgerður gained early recognition for her works exploring representations of women through a powerful and ambiguous visual language. <div><span>This is a set of two green ceramic food and water bowls for pets. They are hand-sculpted by artists from Múlabær, and feature a light green drip design around the upper edge of both bowls. They are the larger size available, and they are&nbsp;</span><span>double-fired with food-safe glaze. The food bowl is a "slow-feeder", which prevents the pet from eating too quickly—something that can cause digestive problems and other issues.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b>About the Artists and the Project:</b></div>Ríkey Magnúsdóttir Ringsted is a second-year product design student at the Iceland University of the Arts. In the spring of 2023, she worked on a project focused on assistive tools for handicrafts for individuals living with visual impairment. Ríkey emphasised clay modelling and ceramics, as clay is a material that relies on touch and the feeling from the hands.<div><br></div><div>Ríkey began working with a diverse group of volunteers who all shared the experience of being significantly visually impaired. They were the first to try something new and to have the opportunity to create despite their visual impairment. This group came from Múlabær, a day centre for the elderly and people living with disabilities.</div><div><br></div><div>The idea for this project initially came from a conversation Ríkey had with her grandmother, Ella Ring (Anna Elín Ringsted).
