If so, this is an attractive shot of the legendary jazzman, rarely seen on the bass. Gaillard, a multi-instrumentalist, performer, and clown of the highest order, was well known for his comedic vocalese in his invented language, "Vout-o-Reenee." An accomplished musician, her performed in the bands of some of jazz's greatest musicians, including Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, and more. Griffin, a tenor saxophonist, was a master of hard-bop. A notable bandleader in his own right, responsible for over 40 studio albums, he also played in some of the greatest jazz bands of the periods — he succeeded John Coltrane in Monk's Five Spot quartet, to name just one.
