Beste spent seven years photographing the Norwegian black metal community, a notoriously secretive musical subculture which emerged in Norway in the 1990s as a rejection of the mainstream, and a return to the worship of the ancient Norse gods.&nbsp;This photograph depicts the drummer of Satyricon and 1349 adorned in typical corpse paint makeup as he glares in the mirror.&nbsp; Beste and his camera can be seen on the right hand of the frame, an interesting glimpse inside Beste’s process of documenting the secluded group.&nbsp;Condition as described in catalogue note.
