The documents outline the full schedule and logistical itinerary for the Grateful Dead's spring 1972 European tour, which ran from April 7 to May 26, comprising 22 performances across six countries including England, Denmark, Germany, France, and Luxembourg. The tour resulted in the landmark triple live album Europe '72, released in November 1972, and is widely regarded as one of the finest extended concert documents in rock history. Healy — who helped design and operate the Wall of Sound and served as the band's primary audio architect for nearly three decades — was part of the touring entourage of approximately 43 people who accompanied the band across 5,572 miles of travel. A veteran of the Grateful Dead's 1980s touring operation, this large white production case was built and managed by Robbie Taylor, the band's long-serving production manager. Whether housing cables, tools, or essential crew supplies, cases like this one were the unglamorous backbone of the Dead's remarkably consistent touring machine. After the Grateful Dead disbanded in 1995 following Jerry Garcia's death, this case continued its working life on the road with Phil Lesh and Friends — Lesh's post-Dead touring project — lending it a continuous thread of Bay Area rock history across two decades of live music.
