A friend and collaborator of many of the major writers and poets of the avant-garde, including Gertrude Stein, Jean Cocteau, Djuna Barnes, Andre Breton, Marcel Duchamp, and Andy Warhol, he was primarily known as the editor of VIEW, one of the most important avant-garde magazines of the last century.Both part-time residents of Kathmandu, Charles Henri Ford and Ira Cohen developed a close friendship that lasted from the 1970s until Ford's death in 2002. Cohen also served as a publisher and champion of Ford's work, publishing his 7 Poems via his Bardo Matrix Press in 1974.
